Abstract:

Some 800 soil and rotten wood samples were collected from Gilan, Mazandaran and GolestanProvinces in the north of Iran. By using selective and general media, 217 Trichoderma isolates were obtained belonging to sections Longibrachiatum (69 isolates) and Pachybasium (148 isolates), respectively. Pure cultures were obtained by single conidium and single chain methods. Colony features were recorded and microscopic examinations were carried out on 5-7 day old cultures on MA, PDA and OA media. Conidiophores, conidia and sporulation patterns were studied and recorded. Thirteen species of Trichoderma are identified among which T. ceramicum, T. crassum and Trichoderma sp. (sect. Pachybasium)and T. reesei, anamorphof H. andinensis andanamorphof H. orientalis (sect. longibrachiatum) are new records to the mycofolora of Iran.

THREE NEW SPECIES OF TRICHODERMA FOR THE MYCOFLORA OF IRAN

Some 350 Trichoderma isolates were obtained from soil samples collected from different parts of Iran. Cultures were purified on 2% water agar by hyphal tip method prior to identification. Obtained isolates were identified using morphological features including colony characters (pigmentation and growth rate on PDA) and microscopic characters such as shape of conidiophores, shape and size of con...

New records of Colletotrichum species for the mycobiota of Iran

Sixteen isolates of Colletotrichum were collected from leaves with anthracnose symptoms or leaf spots of twelve wild, cultivated and ornamental plant species from the Guilan, Mazandaran, and Golestan provinces in Northern Iran. Five different species, including C. aenigma, C. gigasporum, C. godetiae, C. karstii, and C. musae were identified based on the DNA sequence data (TUB2, GS, GAPDH). Four...

Three new species of Pseudocercospora for mycobiota of Iran

Several specimens belonging to the genus Pseudocercospora were collected from different localities of Mazandaran province (N Iran) during the 2011–12. All specimens were microscopically studied and identified. As the result Pseudocercospora abeliae (on Abelia grandiflora), P.rhamnaceicola (on Paliurus spina-christi) and P.sordida (on Campsis grandiflora) are newly recorded for Iran. Furthermore...

Some new species of Mucorales for mycoflora of Iran

In order to determine soil inhabitant fungi of Mazandaran and Golestan provinces (N Iran), some soil samples from arable and non-arable areas were collected. After the isolation, purification and identification of fungi, 61 isolates, belonging to Absidia, Actinomucor, Cunninghamella, Lichtheimia, Mucor, Syncephalastrum and Rhizopus were identified. After DNA extraction, all genera were subjecte...

Fomitiporia mediterranea, a new basidiomycete species for mycobiota of Iran

During last decade, the decline of elm trees was observed in Fars province (Iran) due to a wood decaying agent in heartwood of the trees. Unknown basidiomycete isolates were frequently isolated from such trees. The objective of the present study was to identify the basidiomycete isolates by molecular phylogenetic analysis of the internal transcribed spacers of ribosomal DNA. For this purpose, i...
